What a great service and feedback from them. They broke down the problems and how to correctly diagnose the issue, turned out to be a faulty water sensor valve. Car is back to running normal. They instantly picked up on a failure of my AWD haldex pump and with the benefit of hindsight, it hadn't been working for over 2 years as that's how long I had been getting front wheel slippage on acceleration and also significant lag. In this time, I had taken the car into Audi for its year 2 and 3 services and they hadn't picked it up. Now my car accelerates like a boss again and it's like having a brand new car. If you don't have a service plan with Audi, don't waste your time with them. Bring your car to these experts. It won't void your warranty, they are significantly cheaper and better.
